PRE-K & KINDERGARTEN "ROUND-UP"
Hemphill ISD will hold our Pre-K and Kindergarten "Round-Up" for the 2015-2016 school year on Wednesday, May 6, at the HISD Elementary Office from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Hemphill ISD will have open enrollment for Pre-K, again this year. All children who turn 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for the Kindergarten program and children who turn 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for the Pre-K program. REQUIREMENTS: (1) Birth Certificate, (2) Social Security Card, (3) Shot Record - Current with all required immunizations, (4) Proof of income will also be required but eligibility will not be based on this document, (5) Proof of residence is required. (Examples of proof include: lease agreement, house title, current electric bill, current gas bill and/or current water bill.), (6) Transfer students for Pre-K will not be accepted for the 2015-2016 school year. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP NIGHT
Wednesday, May 20th, 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria to give deserved recognition to the Class of 2015 local scholarship recipients, we have chosen a special night to honor their efforts and acknowledge the contributors. EDUCATION AWARD WINNERS
Two HISD teachers have been selected as recipients of a 2015 Gilbert I. "Buddy" Low Excellence in Education Award, sponsored through the Beaumont Foundation. Mrs. Debbie Ener, a 5th grade science and social studies teacher, and Mrs. Sherri Eddings, high school business and technology teacher, will be honored at a reception and gala on May 21. According to the Beaumont Foundation's board of directors, this prestigious honor is given in recognition of commitment to excellence in education and superior dedication to inspire a spirit of learning in students. Mrs. Ener and Mrs. Eddings are shown below with their campus principals, Mr. Jeremy McDaniel and Mr. Marc Griffin. Congratulations!!
FORMER HHS GRADUATE RECOGNIZED IN SCIENCE MAGAZINE
1996 HHS graduate, Michael Tidwell, has co-authored an article that was published in and featured on the cover of February's issue of Science Magazine. Michael, who is a research scientist specializing in the area of organic chemistry, was recently instrumental in break-through research relating to new ebola drug treatment.
