PROCELL SIGNS WITH HOWARD PAYNE UNIVERSITY
Congratulations to HHS senior, Cade Procell, who has signed with Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX. Along with being fully accepted to the university, the Hornets' wide receiver has been offered a roster spot with the HPU Yellowjackets Football program! HHS athletic director, Coach John Launius, stated, "Cade is a prime example of what hard work and determination can accomplish. Procell took care of his academics and set his mind on playing at the next level. And because he set goals, he is now having the opportunity to live out one of his dreams...playing college ball and earning a college degree! The Hemphill Athletic Department is very proud of Cade Procell." Cade is shown above with his mom, Dawn Procell, HHS Principal Marc Griffin, and HHS Athletic Director Coach John Launius.
HES students, Alex Freeman and Cade Kittman, placed 1st overall out of 93 teams with a total score of 475 points when they recently competed in the Region 7 ESC"Yellowstone" Robotics Competition in Kilgore. They also received 3rd place in the Engineer's Choice category. Clay Butler & Jesse Pitre placed 12th, Halli Hall & Elle Godwin placed 18th, Samantha Allman, Kaelynn Larson & Sierra Medlock were 20th, and Rose Smith & Abby Starr tied for 21st. The teams built robots that had to maneuver around various obstacles/features of Yellowstone National Park. Congratulations!!
Regional Powerlifting Winner!
HHS junior, Trey Harris, competed in the Regional Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, March 1. He competed in the 275 lb. weight class and received a third place medal. His combined lift weight was 1,415 lbs! Congratulations, Trey!
ACADEMIC UIL DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!
Congratulations to Hemphill Elementary UIL students for winning the District Championship, once again!! Hemphill won a total of 487 points. Other competing elementary schools were: Kirbyville with 334 points, Newton won 326 points, and Deweyville's total was 307. We are very proud of our elementary UIL students!
Congratulations to Hemphill Middle School UIL students for also winning their District Championship, once again!! Hemphill students won an grand total of 1260 points! Other competing middle schools were: Kirbyville with 663 points, Newton won 30 points, and Deweyville's total was 413. We are very proud of our middle school UIL students! Way to go!!!!
