For 20 Consecutive Years!
The Hemphill Lady Hornets finished their regular season in third place behind the Woodville Lady Eagles and the Central Heights Lady Blue Devils. The Lady Hornets captured the Bi-District round against Palestine Westwood in a five game match in the UIL State Playoffs. The Lady Hornets improved their overall season this year with a win/loss record of 26-6 and as Bi-District Champions/Area Finalists.
All district selections were: Melody Johns - Most Valuable Player (MVP) for District 22-3A, Abbee Ebarb - 1st Team All District, Brooke Butler and Kazmine Godwin 2nd Team All District. Honorable Mention team players were Carlie McGarrahan, Katelyn Elliott, Sarah Moody, Morgan Launius, and Landee Barnett. Academic All District team players were Melody Johns, Abbee Ebarb, Macey Impson, Sherri Nethery, Sarah Moody, Brooke Butler, Kazmine Godwin, Morgan Launius, Kadee Ener, Katelyn Elliott, Landee Barnett and Taylor Rogers.
Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Award for the 2015 season Recipients (Seniors only) were Sarah Moody, Brooke Butler, Carlie McGarrahan, and Landee Barnett. The THSCA Academic All-State Teams recognize high school athletes who excel in the following categories: GPA, class rank and ACT/SAT scores. These players were recognized as a team member based on their scores in these categories.
Coach Rosie Miller-Mays was selected as Co-Coach of the year along with Brittany Castledine of Central Heights. Coach Mays has a win/loss record in the eight years of volleyball here at Hemphill of 156 wins and 65 losses.
Our HHS twirlers competed at UIL twirling competition in Lufkin on October 21. All of the girls advanced and will be competing at the state level in the spring. Congratulations to our twirlers and their sponsor, Mrs. Vickey Procella!
