2017 full-color HISD Hornet Yearbooks are on sale now through April 21. The cost is $60 for the book, $5 extra for a name to be stamped on the front cover (available only through April 21), and $2 extra for a clear plastic protective cover. All students have received an order form, however, you may access the order form by clicking on the above graphic. The yearbook price will increase to $65 each after April 21, so be sure to place your order, soon!
HMS GIRLS TRACK WINS AT MEET!
Hemphill Middle School Track Girls participated in a meet hosted by San Augustine on March 20. The girls did an excellent job in their individual and team races. Pictured from left to right: Nayeli Flores-3rd 400m run and 3rd 1200m run, Macy Holcomb- 2nd discus and 3rd shot put, Aleyiah Lucius- 3rd 100m hurdles, Hannan Alford- 3rd 200m dash, Alyssa Ramsey, Alaina Dickerson, Harley Richmond, Summer Buck, Shatiya Owens- 2nd 100m dash and 3rd 200m dash, Bella Bagala- 3rd 100m dash, Chloeigh White, Tatom Glawson- 1st 800m run, Alexia Wynne, and Kaden Hill. The 7th grade 4x1 consisted of Harley Richmond, Aleyiah Lucius, Alyssa Ramsey, and Kaden Hill. They received 2nd place. The 7th grade 4x2 consisted of Summer Buck, Aleyiah Lucius, Alexia Wynne, and Alaina Dickerson and they received 2nd place. The 8th grade 4x1 consisted of Tatom Glawson, Shatiya Owens, Chloeigh White, and Bella Bagala and they received 3rd place. Congratulations to each of them; they did a wonderful job.
HHS OAP WINS "ALTERNATE" AT DISTRICT
HHS One Act Play performed Any Body for Tea? at District 22AAA competition at Cushing High School on March 7. Congratulations to our cast and crew for placing as “Alternate Play”. Individual awards included: “Honorable Mention All-Star Cast”: Gabe Titman, Gray Bundy and Vernesha Holman; "Best Tech Crew Member": Makenna Iles.
REGIONAL POWERLIFTING QUALIFIERS

DISTRICT C-X DEBATE WINNERS!
Three HHS C-X Debate teams competed on February 4 at the 22AAA District C-X UIL Meet in Shelbyville. Results were: 1st Place Team - Blake Hunsley and Gabe Titman, 2nd Place Team - Codie Pitre and Abby Adkins, and 3rd Place Team - Manuel Rodriguez and Gray Bundy. Top Speaker was Gabe Titman. The 1st & 2nd place teams will be advancing to State competition on March 13 at UT in Austin. Manuel Rodriguez will be subbing for Codie Pitre on the 2nd place team. Congratulations and good luck to these UIL debaters!

HISD Education Foundation Receives
Brookshire Brothers Grant
On Tuesday, January 24, Hemphill ISD Education Foundation was awarded a grant from the Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation. HMS ONE ACT PLAY WINS DISTRICT!
Hemphill Middle School One Act Play performed Danny, King of the Basement at district competition on January 13 and won 1st place; bringing home 11 medals and 4 plaques! Awards were as follows: Elle Godwin - Outstanding Crew Member; Elle Godwin, Autumn Griffin, Wesley Ross, Bret Procella, Will Pay, & Alaina Dickerson - Best Crew; Alaina Dickerson - All Star Cast Honorable Mention; Samantha Allman & Alex Freeman - All Star Cast; Dane Bundy - Best Actor; Kadi Hanks - Best Actress.
