Hemphill Hornet senior offensive lineman, Trey Harris, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the University of Texas Permian Basin. Trey will be in the inaugural recruiting class at UTPB. Although they are currently building the program, they will begin league play in the fall of 2016. During the 2015 season, the recruits will red shirt, train, and have spring football workouts. UTPB will compete at the Division 2 level in the Lone Star Conference with Midwestern State, Angelo State, Tarlton State, A & M – Commerce, A & M – Kingsville, West Texas - A & M, and Eastern New Mexico. UTPB is located in Odessa, Texas. “This is a great opportunity for Trey,” said HHS Head Coach, John Launius. “This opportunity will allow Trey to develop his game at the next level and earn a college degree.” Launius also noted that Harris not only received athletic scholarship aid, but will receive academic aid as well, which made for a very nice scholarship package from UTPB.
